Change to Requesting Medication 1st July

From 1st July, pharmacies will no longer be able to request repeat prescriptions on behalf of patients.

To your medication, you will need to request it directly using one of the following methods:

  1. NHS App: NHS App – NHS
  2. AccuRx online request system: Repeat Prescription Request
  3. In person at the practice

Why this change is helpful
Requesting your medication directly helps to:

  • Reduce communication delays and processing errors
  • Ensure requests are accurate and only what is needed
  • Improve safety and  managing prescriptions

Who this change does NOT apply to
This is a change made in line with NHS best-practice guidance. We understand that some patients may need additional support, and exceptions will be made for:

  • Patients who have vulnerabilities or are unable to use digital services
  • Patients who receive medication in dosette boxes (blister packs)

If you believe you fall into one of these groups, please speak to a member of our team.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us improve our prescribing service.

Kind regards,

The Allerton & Westfield Team
