We Have Been Asked by NHS England to Review Some Patient Registrations
NHS England is currently undertaking a national patient list validation exercise to ensure GP practice records are accurate and up to date. As part of this process, some patients have been identified as potentially no longer living at their registered address or within the area served by their registered GP practice.
If you have been identified as part of this exercise, you should have received a letter from NHS England explaining the process and what action may be required.
You May Have Been Identified in Error
The practice is aware that GP representative bodies, Local Medical Committees (LMCs) and the British Medical Association (BMA) have raised concerns nationally regarding the implementation of the current exercise and the possibility that some patients may have been identified incorrectly despite remaining genuine, active patients of their practice.
These organisations have highlighted concerns that some patients may not respond to official correspondence for a variety of reasons, including changes of address, communication difficulties, language barriers, illness, caring responsibilities or simply mistaking the correspondence for unsolicited mail.
For this reason, being included in the exercise does not automatically mean that you are no longer entitled to remain registered with the practice.
What the Practice Is Doing
To help protect patients from being removed unnecessarily, we are taking additional steps to contact patients identified through the NHS England process.
Where possible, affected patients will receive a message from the practice asking them to confirm:
- Whether they still live at their registered address.
- Whether they still live within the practice area.
- Whether they wish to remain registered with the practice.
- Whether any contact details need updating.
This additional verification process is intended to ensure that patients who remain eligible for registration are given every reasonable opportunity to confirm their circumstances before any removal action is taken.

Not Sure Whether You Are Still Registered?
If you are unsure whether you remain registered with Allerton Medical Centre, you may be able to view your registered GP practice through the NHS App. Otherwise, you can contact us using the online form above.
Have You Already Been Removed from the Practice List?
If you discover that you have already been removed from our patient list as part of this process, please contact us as soon as possible.
In many cases, where a patient remains eligible to register with the practice, we can re-register them quickly and with minimal difficulty.
We are aware of concerns raised nationally regarding the accuracy of some deductions made through the NHS England patient list validation process. GP representative bodies and Local Medical Committees have reported instances where patients have been identified or deducted incorrectly.
Where a patient believes they have been removed in error, we will review the circumstances surrounding the deduction, investigate how the deduction occurred, and raise any apparent errors with NHS England as part of our ongoing feedback regarding the operation and accuracy of the process.
What Should I Do?
If you have received a letter from NHS England and/or a message from the practice, please respond as soon as possible.
If you continue to live in the area and wish to remain registered with us, your response will help ensure your registration remains accurate and up to date.
