Guidance for children returning to school:
The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health has issued detailed guidance about children returning to school, including symptoms of covid and common colds. The summary of the advice is:
From this available evidence we believe that children with simple cold symptoms such as coryzal symptoms (runny noses) or sore throats without fever who would normally have attended schools in other times should not be tested for COVID-19.
This is in agreement with current PHE guidance for deciding when to test. These symptoms are:
- new continuous cough
- fever/high temperature
- loss of, or change in, sense of smell or taste.
Following this guidance allows the identification of children most likely to be infected and help detect any emerging outbreak.
Mental Health Support:
In such times of uncertainty, we may all be feeling the impact to our mental well-being. We can offer appointments with our Healthy Mind Practitioner but there is other local support available as well as online resources.
Leeds Mental Wellbeing Service offers a wide range of therapies and support including a range of group, online and 1:1 options and a Covid-19 gruop class delivered live online over 4 weeks.
Mindwell also has a coronavirus mental health information hub.
Post Covid-19 Recovery:
If you are recovering from Covid-19, you may find that you are still having to come to terms with the impact on your body and on your mind. Some of the impact can take a long time to change. Your Covid Recovery helps you to understand what has happened and what you might expect as part of your recovery. Our GPs are also able to help support you further if your symptoms do not improve.
